Role Description
Genesis Tech Engineers is seeking an experienced and dynamic Team Lead – BIM to lead our BIM modeling and coordination team in Pune. The Team Lead will be responsible for managing BIM project execution, providing technical leadership, ensuring quality and timely delivery, and coordinating with engineering teams and clients in the United States.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience in BIM modeling and coordination, along with proven leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and team members.
This role provides an opportunity to lead teams working on technically challenging projects involving semiconductor manufacturing facilities, industrial infrastructure, complex MEP systems, equipment layouts, and advanced engineering facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of BIM Modelers, Senior BIM Modelers, BIM Coordinators, and Junior BIM professionals.
- Allocate resources and assign tasks based on project requirements, team capabilities, and priorities.
- Monitor team productivity, utilization, progress, and deliverables.
- Establish clear objectives and expectations for team members.
- Conduct regular team reviews and provide constructive technical and professional feedback.
- Identify training and development requirements and support continuous skill development.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and quality-focused team environment.
BIM Project Execution
- Take ownership of BIM project execution from model development through final deliverables.
- Review project requirements, drawings, specifications, and BIM standards before commencement.
- Develop project execution strategies, modeling workflows, and delivery plans.
- Ensure BIM models and deliverables are completed accurately and within established schedules.
- Monitor project progress against planned milestones and take corrective action when required.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining quality and delivery timelines.
- Support project managers in planning manpower, schedules, deliverables, and technical requirements.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance on Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM coordination, and discipline-specific modeling.
- Review and approve BIM models, drawings, layouts, and other technical deliverables.
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination between MEP, mechanical, structural, architectural, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
- Review and resolve complex modeling, coordination, and spatial planning issues.
- Lead clash detection and resolution activities using Navisworks and Revit.
- Ensure proper model setup, coordinates, levels, worksets, families, parameters, and naming conventions.
- Establish and maintain BIM modeling and QA/QC standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve BIM workflows, productivity, and model quality.
- Support the implementation of Dynamo and other BIM automation solutions where appropriate.
Quality Assurance & Control
- Establish and enforce BIM QA/QC procedures across projects.
- Conduct periodic audits of models and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with project-specific BIM standards, client requirements, and applicable US engineering and construction standards.
- Review coordination reports, clash reports, model health, and deliverable quality.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked to completion.
- Maintain consistency and quality across multiple project teams.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate directly with US-based clients, engineers, architects, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in client meetings, BIM coordination meetings, and technical discussions.
- Understand client requirements and translate them into clear technical instructions for the BIM team.
- Communicate project progress, technical challenges, risks, and required decisions to stakeholders.
- Address client comments and ensure timely incorporation of revisions.
- Build strong professional relationships with clients and project teams.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and review project BIM execution plans, modeling guidelines, workflows, and standards as required.
- Maintain project schedules, task trackers, resource plans, and progress reports.
- Prepare BIM coordination reports, QA/QC reports, clash reports, and project status updates.
- Ensure proper document control, model versioning, and file management.
- Support management with project performance and resource planning reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- 7–12 years of relevant BIM experience, with demonstrated team leadership or supervisory experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
- Strong experience in BIM modeling, coordination, and multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Strong working knowledge of Navisworks Manage and clash detection.
- Experience managing and mentoring BIM teams.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Strong knowledge of BIM standards, workflows, and QA/QC processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading BIM teams on semiconductor, industrial, manufacturing, data center, cleanroom, or other complex infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with large and complex MEP systems.
- Strong knowledge of Revit MEP and/or other discipline-specific Revit platforms.
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360 or similar CDE platforms.
- Knowledge of BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and BIM project standards.
- Experience with Dynamo and BIM automation.
- Experience with Intergraph Smart 3D / SmartPlant 3D is an advantage.
- Familiarity with US engineering and construction standards.
- Previous experience working with US-based clients and international engineering teams is preferred.
- PMP, BIM-related certifications, or other relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
